The Oostpoort (Eastern Gate) is a historical site in Delft. The gate is old, it was built around 1400. It is an example of Brick Gothic northern European architecture. Around 1510 the towers were enhanced with an additional octagonal floor and high spires. This is the only city gate remaining in Delft; the others were demolished in the 19th century. It currently serves as an art gallery and private residence.

The Oostpoort has a special meaning for me, because we made our wedding photographs here. The photographer that made them, Ralf Czogallik, is one of the best wedding photographers in The Netherlands. I knew I would not match his quality. But I went during sunset, so my photos would be very different. Unfortunately when we arrived at the location, there were three significant setbacks. First, the sky wasn’t really interesting. Second, there was a lot of green algae in the water. And third, there was construction work being done.

Nevertheless I did my best to take a few decent photos. But I certainly have to go back here again under better circumstances.
