Oostpoort Delft at sunset: returning to a personal landmark

Delft’s Oostpoort has a personal meaning for me: it was the setting for our wedding photographs. I returned with my own camera at sunset, hoping to see the historic gate in a different light.

The twin towers and waterside position offered an appealing composition, but conditions were difficult. The sky was fairly plain, algae covered parts of the water and construction work affected the setting.

I made the most of the available angles, while knowing that another visit might offer better conditions. These photographs record one evening at a place I already knew through very different pictures.
