Bridges of Budapest: evening photography on the Danube

A September city break gave me time to photograph the bridges connecting Buda and Pest across the Danube. They became some of my favourite subjects in Budapest.

Margaret Bridge offered an interesting steel structure and views towards the island in the river. The Chain Bridge, or Széchenyi lánchíd, was especially compelling once its evening lights came on.

Photographing along the river brought the bridges together with the city’s grand buildings and changing reflections. This collection follows those views as daylight gave way to the illuminated waterfront.
