Budapest Metro: architecture beneath the city

Budapest’s architecture continues underground. During our visit, several metro stations stood out for their design, lighting and strong perspective lines.

Photographing them was challenging. Passengers kept moving through the scenes, and security staff told us we could not use tripods. We had to work around those restrictions and wait for suitable moments.

What interested me most was the relationship between each station and its trains. Older carriages on the older lines made the setting feel consistent with the era in which it was built. In the end, we came away with the photographs we had hoped for.
