Scheveningen Pier: black-and-white studies during restoration

I photographed Scheveningen Pier while restoration work was underway in 2016. The familiar seaside structure was in a period of change after years of neglect.

Because I visited in the middle of the day, the light was less atmospheric than at sunset. I worked with black and white and HDR processing to emphasise the shapes and textures instead.

The bungee-jump tower became a particularly interesting subject. These images document the pier during that stage of its history, rather than its appearance today.
