A red evening sky over the Noord-AA, Zoetermeer

When the sky turned bright red, I drove to the Noord-AA in Zoetermeer with my camera. Returning to viewpoints I already knew helped me make the most of a short burst of colour.

The lake’s open water gave the sky room to dominate the scene. Familiar foregrounds and reflections helped hold the compositions together.

The main challenge came during editing. The red was already so intense that pushing it further made the photographs less convincing. I worked to preserve the atmosphere without losing the natural look of the evening.
